TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are hunting for a fugitive after a man was found stabbed and partially bound with a zip tie inside his Toshima Ward apartment on Friday morning, reports Nippon News Network (Oct. 2).
At approximately 7:30 a.m., police received an emergency call from the victim’s mother, who reported, “My son was stabbed by the man he lives with.”
Officers rushed to the 12th-floor apartment, located just 100 meters from Tokyo Metro Zoshigaya Station. Upon finding the front door open, they discovered the victim, a man in his mid-20s, collapsed in the entryway. He had suffered a stab wound to his left flank, and investigators noted a zip tie tightly fastened around one of his ankles.
A kitchen knife, believed to be the weapon used in the bloody assault, was recovered at the scene.
Despite sustaining serious injuries, the victim’s condition is not considered life-threatening. Police revealed that after being stabbed, the bleeding man managed to phone his mother, who lives elsewhere, prompting her to dial 110.
The assailant—identified only as a male roommate who is not related to the victim—fled the premises before police arrived. The Metropolitan Police Department is currently tracking his whereabouts and investigating the case as an assault resulting in injury.
The violent incident left locals on edge. “Right here? What floor?” asked one visibly shaken apartment resident. “That is incredibly scary.”
Another neighbor noted the heavy police presence. “A bunch of patrol cars came through and stopped around 7:30, so I figured something had happened. It’s troubling to have crime happen here; I just want them to make an arrest quickly.”
