HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police have arrested a 50-year-old woman for allegedly bombarding a 15-year-old junior high school boy — her daughter’s former boyfriend — with thousands of threatening text messages, reports the Yomiuri Shimbun (Aug. 27).
According to police, the relentless harassment took place over an 18-month period leading up to April. During that time, the unnamed woman, who lives in Sapporo City’s Kita Ward, sent several thousand short messages to the teenager’s smartphone.
Among the chilling texts sent by the mother were messages reading, “I won’t forgive you for being happy,” and “Do you want to experience a little pain?”
On the 26th, police arrested the woman on suspicion of intimidation and causing injury.
Upon her arrest, the suspect admitted to the allegations. “There is no mistake that I sent the messages,” she told investigators.
Police are currently investigating the exact motive behind the prolonged campaign of harassment.
