OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have launched a potential homicide investigation after an adult male was found dead in a pool of blood with apparent stab wounds to his abdomen inside an apartment, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Aug. 23).
At approximately 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, an acquaintance of the victim who had come to visit the residence in the Yamashiro area of the town of Kanan made a frantic emergency call.
“The resident of this unit is collapsed and covered in blood,” the caller told dispatchers. “He is unresponsive and I cannot confirm if he is breathing.”
Officers from the Tondabayashi Police Station and paramedics from the Osaka Minami Fire Department rushed to the scene. Upon entering the apartment, they discovered the man lying face-down on the floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, the victim suffered injuries to his abdomen consistent with being stabbed by a bladed weapon. Osaka police are currently treating the discovery as a criminal case and are working to track down a suspect.
