GUNMA (TR) – Police in Takasaki City have arrested a 61-year-old unemployed man caught in the act of stealing women’s underwear from an apartment balcony, reports Fuji News Network (Aug. 17).
Kyuzo Okawara is accused of stealing five pieces of women’s underwear that had been hung out to dry on the first-floor balcony of a local apartment on July 10.
After the female resident filed a police report over the stolen items, officers initiated a stakeout at the property. On July 24, Okawara returned to the same apartment and stole underwear again, leading police to arrest him on the spot.
Upon his arrest, Okawara admitted to the allegations. “I saw the underwear hanging there and wanted it,” he told investigators.
A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence uncovered approximately 70 pieces of women’s underwear. Police are currently investigating whether he is responsible for similar unreported thefts in the area.
