GUNMA (TR) – Gunma Prefectural Police are hunting for a knife-wielding suspect who robbed a convenience store in Isesaki City early on Monday morning, reports Fuji News Network (Aug. 17).
Just after 3:00 a.m., the man, dressed in work clothes, entered the store and wandered the aisles picking up items, posing as a regular customer.
He then approached the store manager, brandished a knife-like object, and politely but menacingly demanded, “Please give me money.”
The manager, who was working alone at the time, waited for a brief moment when the suspect’s guard was down to hit the emergency button, alerting a security firm. The manager then removed 30,000 yen from the cash register and handed it over.
The suspect snatched the cash in silence and fled the scene.
Police are currently pursuing the suspect, who remains at large. He is described as being of slender build and measuring between 170 and 175 centimeters in height. Authorities warn that he is likely still armed.
