YAMANASHI (TR) – Police have arrested a 54-year-old corporate recruiter accused of sexually assaulting a female job seeker in her 20s under the guise of measuring her for a company uniform, reports NHK (July 14).
Shinobu Yamazaki, a company employee and resident of Isawa-cho, Fuefuki City, was arrested on suspicion of non-consensual indecency, police said.
According to investigators, the incident took place on May 8. The victim had attended a job interview at Yamazaki’s company the previous day. While processing her hiring paperwork, Yamazaki allegedly told the young woman, “We will do the uniform fitting at your home.”
After conducting the measurements at her apartment, Yamazaki allegedly spread his arms and demanded that she hug him. Police say he forced his kisses and embraces on the woman, exploiting her fear that she would not be hired if she rejected his advances.
The victim contacted the police to report the assault immediately after Yamazaki left her residence.
During police questioning, Yamazaki admitted to kissing and hugging the woman but attempted to downplay the allegations, telling investigators, “I lacked confirmation of her feelings.”
Police are continuing to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
