AV actress Miori Yurikawa says sexual harassment at hospital director, school bullying led to adult debut

TOKYO (TR) – Adult video (AV) actress Miori Yurikawa has revealed that severe workplace sexual harassment by a medical boss and a childhood marred by relentless bullying drove her into the industry.

Self-described as “the world’s number one princess,” Yurikawa says in her X bio that she is a fan of virtual idol Hatsune Miku. She was a former junior idol when she debuted in AV in 2023.

However, as with many starlets, getting to this point was not simple. As reported in the site for weekly tabloid Spa! (July 5), her path included some disturbing twists, including a dark stint in the corporate world after she graduated from university.

“Licked my leg”

While working as a secretary to a hospital director, Yurikawa says she was subjected to extreme sexual harassment by her boss.

“While I was working, he would say things like, ‘Are your legs swollen?’ and start massaging them,” Yurikawa said. “I endured it, but one day he licked my leg.”

Adding insult to injury, rumors were spread around the workplace that she was the director’s mistress. The escalating abuse ultimately pushed her out of the conventional workforce entirely.

“I thought, ‘If I’m going to be sexually harassed working a normal job, I might as well just strip,'” she explained as one of the primary reasons for her adult debut.

“Do your best!”

The actress is no stranger to institutional failures. During her elementary and junior high school years, Yurikawa was the victim of severe bullying over her high-pitched voice. Classmates called her “creepy” and, on one occasion, poured curry over her head.

When her parents reported the abuse to the school’s principal and her homeroom teacher, educators attempted to cover up the problem.

“The teacher came to our house and said, ‘There is no bullying. Isn’t it your fault for being gloomy and not getting along with everyone?'” Yurikawa recalled.

With her parents’ permission, she stopped attending school, becoming a truant. She spent her days wandering Tokyo’s Harajuku district, where she was eventually scouted by a talent agency, leading to her initial debut as an idol at age 15.

While her transition to the adult video industry years later initially caused friction, she says she ultimately won her family over. Her mother agreed to the move after being heavily persuaded by the president of Yurikawa’s former talent agency. Her father, meanwhile, found out about her new profession a year later when he spotted her in a sports tabloid.

“I thought he would be angry, but he just said, ‘Do your best!'” she laughed.

“On my own merit”

Despite her commitment to the adult industry — stating she wants to continue performing even if she reaches 100 years old — Yurikawa says she is currently raising funds to launch her own jewelry brand.

However, she noted that she will use her real name for the business, fully aware of the societal stigma attached to her current profession.

“If it becomes known that an AV actress is involved, it could cause problems,” she said, viewing it as necessary risk management. “I want to succeed on my own merit.”
