IBARAKI (TR) – Ibaraki Prefectural Police last week raided the headquarters of the designated yakuza syndicate Matsuba-kai following the arrest of an affiliated gang boss for possessing methamphetamine for the purpose of sale, reports TV Asahi (June 28).
On the morning of June 26, investigators raided the Matsuba-kai headquarters in Kashima City.
The day before, police arrested Kanichi Hayashi, a 58-year-old boss of a Matsuba-kai affiliate, was arrested on suspicion of possessing kakuseizai (methamphetamine) for profit in the parking lot of his residence in Kashima.
Police did not reveal whether Hayashi admits to the allegations.

According to police, Hayashi was storing at least several dozen grams of the drugs inside a vehicle parked at his home. The narcotics had been carefully divided into small, zippered plastic bags, indicating a clear intent to sell.
Investigators are currently tracing the smuggling routes and attempting to identify the original supplier of the drugs. Police believe the illicit drug sales were being used as a direct source of funding for the underworld syndicate.
