GUNMA (TR) – Police in Takasaki City are investigating a fatal stabbing after a woman in her 20s was found dead in a parking lot early Wednesday, followed shortly by the death of the prime suspect in a traffic collision, reports TBS News (June 24).
At approximately 3:00 a.m., police received an emergency call reporting that a woman was involved in a heated altercation with a male acquaintance in a parking lot.
Officers rushing to the scene discovered the woman collapsed in a pool of blood. She was later confirmed dead. A bloodstained knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was found discarded near her body.
“I heard a scream, and then a man muttering something to himself,” a local resident who witnessed the aftermath said. “I approached the woman and asked if she was okay, but she didn’t respond.”
Believing the male acquaintance had fled the scene, police immediately launched a search for the getaway vehicle.
About an hour later, at roughly 4:00 a.m., authorities located a passenger car believed to belong to the victim. The vehicle had been involved in a serious crash in Fukaya City, Saitama Prefecture, approximately 30 kilometers away from the crime scene.
The driver of the crashed vehicle, described as a man in his 30s, was later pronounced dead.
Investigators are currently working to formally establish the link between the brutal slaying in Takasaki and the fatal crash in Saitama.
