Toyama woman finds missing husband dead in shallow irrigation ditch

TOYAMA (TR) – Police in Toyama City are investigating the mysterious death of a 43-year-old male office worker whose body was discovered in a shallow irrigation ditch early on Saturday by his own wife, reports Fuji News Network (June 13).

At approximately 1:50 a.m., the wife of Mineyuki Kurauchi, a resident of the city’s Tsukimicho area, was out searching for her husband when she found him collapsed in an irrigation channel in the Mizuhashi Joganji district. She immediately alerted emergency services.

Kurauchi was transported to a local hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

According to authorities, the ditch measures approximately 60 centimeters in width and holds a water depth of just 20 centimeters.

Investigators noted that Kurauchi was found lying with the left side of his body facing down in the shallow water.

The case is being treated as the result of foul play or an accident.
