Police hunt two foreign men over stabbing, robbery of woman in Osaka underground mall

OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police are searching for two foreign men after a woman was stabbed and robbed in an underground shopping mall near JR Tennoji Station on Wednesday night, reports Zakzak (June 10).

The victim, who is also believed to be a foreign national, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the attack. Her bag was snatched during the violent altercation, prompting police to launch an attempted robbery-murder investigation.

Investigative sources revealed that the two fleeing suspects may be acquaintances of the victim. Police suspect some form of prior dispute led to the bloodshed and are currently tracking the pair’s whereabouts.

The brazen attack sent shockwaves through Avetika, a typically bustling underground mall. A male part-time worker at a nearby restaurant recalled the chilling aftermath.

“A slim woman was lying flat on her back,” the worker said. “Sometimes you see drunk people passed out down here, but I’ve never seen anything to this extent. It’s honestly terrifying. I want to know what happened.”

The incident also sparked immediate panic on social media platform X, as the location serves as a major transit hub for commuters.

Locals expressed horror over violent crime erupting in such a familiar, everyday location, with one shaken user writing, “I don’t use it to commute, but it’s the exact route I take when transferring from the subway to the JR line. It’s way too scary.”
