AICHI (TR) – Police in Anjo City have arrested a 58-year-old Brazilian national on suspicion of arson following the stabbing of a man at a chemical plant last week, reports TV Asahi (June 6).
At approximately 9:40 p.m. on June 5, emergency services received a report that a man in his 40s had been stabbed in the abdomen at a local chemical manufacturer’s facility in Fujicho.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and was reported to be conscious, police said.
While tracking the suspected attacker, officers discovered a fire breaking out at an apartment about two kilometers away from the crime scene about one hour later.
Police apprehended Werner Valarini outside the burning apartment, arresting him on the spot on suspicion of setting the fire.
Investigators believe the apartment is connected to the suspect and are currently questioning Valarini to determine his involvement in the attempted murder at the plant.
