TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police officers have arrested a 47-year-old man for allegedly ambushing a woman in her 20s and brutally beating her before stealing her bag in Adachi Ward, reports TBS News (June 4).
Tetsuya Takahashi, a company employee residing in Katsushika Ward, faces charges of robbery resulting in bodily injury.
According to police, the attack took place in the early hours of April 26. The victim was walking home near JR Ayase Station when Takahashi allegedly struck her suddenly from behind. After knocking the woman to the ground, he dragged her into a nearby parking lot.
The vicious assault left the victim with severe injuries, including broken teeth.
Upon his arrest, Takahashi entirely denied the allegations. “I have absolutely no memory of this,” he told investigators.

During the struggle, Takahashi allegedly snatched her tote bag, which contained her smartphone and wallet.
In a twist, the stolen tote bag was later discovered dumped approximately 100 meters from the crime scene. Investigators noted that the cash inside the victim’s wallet was left completely untouched.
