Man beat lawyer with monkey wrench in Shibuya over ‘his attitude’

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested a 53-year-old suspect accused of severely beating a man with a monkey wrench at a residence in Shibuya Ward, reports Nippon News Network (June 4).

Yuri Endo is accused of assaulting the man, aged in his 30s, in the Jingumae area at around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday. According to police, the incident escalated from a verbal dispute after the victim visited Endo’s home.

During police questioning, Endo partially denied the charges — specifically the use of the heavy tool — but fully admitted to initiating the violence over a perceived slight.

“There is no mistake that I punched and kicked him,” Endo told investigators, revealing that the victim was visiting in a legal capacity. “I called a lawyer, but he didn’t take my request seriously and I got angry at his attitude.”

The scene came to light when an eyewitness called emergency services to report a “bleeding man running” down the street. Responding officers arrived to find the victim crouching on the ground, bleeding heavily from his head and abdomen.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently being treated for severe injuries.
