TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a man in his 50s for allegedly assaulting an acquaintance with a metal tool in Shibuya Ward on Wednesday, leaving him severely injured, reports Fuji News Network (June 4).
Shortly before 9:30 p.m., police rushed to the Jingumae area after receiving an emergency call from a witness reporting “a bleeding man running” down the street.
Arriving officers located the victim, a man in his 30s, bleeding heavily from his head and abdomen.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he is currently being treated for serious injuries. “I got into a dispute with an acquaintance and he did this to me,” the man told investigators.
Acting on the victim’s statement, police made an emergency arrest of the 50-something suspect on suspicion of inflicting injury. During a search of the suspect’s residence — which was identified as the scene of the brutal altercation —investigators recovered a blood-stained metal tool believed to be the weapon used in the attack.
Upon his arrest, the suspect partially denied the allegations. While he admitted to the assault itself, he disputed the use of a weapon, telling police, “I only punched him with my hands and kicked him.”
