TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 47-year-old company employee for allegedly paying a middle school girl for sex after picking her up in the Kabukicho entertainment district, reports the Sankei Shimbun (May 26).
Shintaro Shiraki, a resident of Suginami Ward, is accused of non-consensual sexual intercourse and violating the Child Prostitution and Child Pornography Prohibition Law.
Upon his arrest on Monday, Shiraki partially denied the allegations, telling investigators, “We just talked in the hotel for two hours. I didn’t do anything.” However, he did admit to the financial transaction, stating, “It is a fact that I gave her money.”
According to the Suginami Police Station, Shiraki approached the second-year middle school girl on the streets of Kabukicho in late February. The pair exchanged contact information and arranged to meet at a later date in exchange for cash.
On March 20, Shiraki allegedly handed the underage girl 40,000 yen before committing obscene acts with her at a hotel in Shinjuku Ward.
The incident came to light in late March after the girl’s mother contacted the police. She said, “I am worried because my daughter is hanging around Kabukicho.” Subsequent questioning of the teenager by investigators ultimately led them to Shiraki.
