Body of man in his 60s found floating at Tokushima boat race track

TOKUSHIMA (TR) – Police here have launched an investigation after the dead body of a man was found floating at a local boat racing facility on Sunday morning, reports Fuji News Network (May 3).

The grim discovery took place at Boat Race Naruto in Naruto City. At approximately 7:36 a.m., an employee at the facility contacted authorities, reporting that a person was “floating on the water’s surface inside the race course.”

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but the man was already deceased upon their arrival. Based on personal belongings recovered at the scene, investigators believe the victim is a man in his 60s.

While details regarding his clothing and the exact circumstances of his death are still being confirmed, police stated that the body showed no noticeable signs of major trauma, save for a scrape on his forehead.

Authorities are currently working to formally identify the victim and are investigating the incident from both the angles of an accidental death and foul play.
