AICHI (TR) – Police in Nagoya City have arrested an 83-year-old woman on suspicion of causing injury after her 82-year-old husband was found beaten to death inside their apartment, reports Nagoya TV (Apr. 22).
Noriko Akaike, an unemployed resident of Yutaka in Minami Ward, is accused of striking her husband, Shinichi, in the face with a stick and repeatedly kicking him in the body at their prefectural housing complex at around 3:00 p.m. on April 21.
Upon her arrest on suspicion of inflicting injury, the elderly suspect admitted to the allegations. “He made a fool of me, so I hit him with a stick and kicked him,” Akaike told investigators.
The incident came to light later that evening when Akaike contacted a female neighbor, casually mentioning that her husband had become unresponsive and was unable to move. The neighbor immediately alerted emergency services.
Shinichi was rushed to a local hospital but was subsequently pronounced dead. Authorities confirmed there were severe bruises covering his entire body.
Investigating officers are currently probing the detailed circumstances surrounding the fatal domestic dispute.
