TOKYO (TR) – Prosecutors have decided to not indict television personality and former adult video (AV) actress Anri Sakaguchi following her arrest last month for shoplifting a sandwich from a convenience store in Hachioji City.
On March 17, Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested the 35-year-old after she was caught stealing a 300-yen sandwich from a convenience store in Hachioji City.
The sandwich had a value of 300 yen. Upon her arrest on suspicion of theft, she admitted to the charges, the Takao Police Station said previously. She remained in custody for more than a week.
On April 8, the Tachikawa branch of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office decided not to indict her.
A reporter from the social affairs department of a major newspaper explains to the site for Shukan Gendai (Apr. 14): “Normally, for minor offenses, people are released within 48 hours. However, in Sakaguchi’s case, she was detained for about nine days because she had no guarantor and could not be contacted by a guarantor.”
Prosecutors announced that “after careful consideration of all circumstances, we have decided not to indict her.”
Past work
Sakaguchi, a Tokyo native, is the daughter of popular actress Ryoko Sakaguchi. She began appearing in a number of television series after entering the entertainment business in 2008. In October 2016, she shifted gears by making her AV debut for label Muteki.
In 2018, she worked as a hostess and stripper in Tokyo and a sex worker in brothel quarters in Osaka and Kobe cities.
This was not her first brush with the law. In 2017 and the year after, she was accused in two cases involving a former boyfriend. Both cases were eventually dropped by prosecutors.
“I used to be in the entertainment industry”
On Tuesday, she appeared on the Instagram channel of entrepreneur Yoshio Mizusawa.
Regarding her current activities, she revealed, “I do a variety of things. Welfare work, nail art. What I want to do most is open a flower shop.”
She further added, “I used to be in the entertainment industry. I’m not doing it anymore. Not even a little.” Regarding friends in the entertainment industry, she said, “I can’t say.”
Regarding her hobbies, she said, “I’ve recently become hooked on hot springs,” and added, “I want to lose weight.” She said she weighs 65 kilograms.
