Tokyo police officer found dead in dorm in apparent suicide

TOKYO (TR) – A police officer died in a Tokyo Metropolitan Police dormitory in Setagaya Ward on Monday. He is believed committed suicide with a handgun, police said, reports Fuji News Network (Mar. 31).

Around 4:30 p.m., the 23-year-old male officer was found lying on the floor bleeding from a wound to his head in a dormitory at the Tamagawa Police Station. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No suicide note was found. However, a handgun was discovered near the officer’s body. Tokyo police believe he used the weapon to take his life.

Tokyo police are now investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
