AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police on Sunday arrested a 20-year-old female employee of an internet cafe in Nagoya for allegedly leaving the body of a newborn baby inside a private room, reports NHK (Mar. 29).
Shortly after 7:00 a.m., police received a report from an employee of an internet cafe in Naka Ward stating that there was a strange odor coming from the private room.
Police investigated and found the body of the newborn baby wrapped in towels and other materials inside.
Police later arrested Miyu Imai, 20, who identified herself as an employee, on suspicion of abandoning a corpse. During questioning, she admitted to the allegations.
Imai, who lives in Kani City, Gifu Prefecture, is believed to be the baby’s mother.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
The cafe is located in a bustling area, not far from Sakae Station on the Nagoya Municipal Subway.
