OITA (TR) – There has been a rash of thefts of reflective roadside delineators across the prefecture.
According to TV Asahi (Mar. 27), nearly 100 delineators, which stand along roadsides to ensure the safety of drivers, are thought to have been stolen.
An examination of one roadway revealed that screws that secure delineators to poles have been discarded. There are also signs of them having been cut at the base of the poles supporting them.
This was found to be the case for about 50 meters along the roadway.
Similar incidents have occurred in various parts of the prefecture, totaling 97 poles.
Oita Prefecture plans to file a police report on suspicion of theft.
