HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police arrested a 51-year-old woman for allegedly trying to kill her high school-aged son by injecting him with insulin at their home in Sapporo City on Tuesday, reports TV Asahi (Mar. 25).
At around 6:30 a.m., the husband of Naomi Adachi called police from their home in Higashi Ward. He said, “My wife is acting violently. It seems my wife injected my son with insulin.”
Police arriving at the scene arrested Adachi for allegedly attempting to kill the 18-year-old boy by injecting him with insulin while he was sleeping.
The boy experienced temporary hypoglycemia due to the insulin after awaking, but his life is not in danger, police said.
Adachi was sent to prosecutors on suspicion of attempted murder on Wednesday. “I intended to kill him by injecting him with insulin,” she said.
Insulin is used to treat diabetes and lower blood sugar levels. Police are investigating Adachi’s motives and the amount of insulin administered.
