Pair of corpses with stab wounds found in burned-out Meguro apartment

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police launched an investigation after a pair of corpses with stab wounds were found in a burned-out apartment in Meguro Ward on Wednesday, reports TBS News (Mar. 12).

Just before 11:30 p.m., the local fire department was alerted to smoke coming from the unit in the apartment building in Kamimeguro.

According to the Tokyo Fire Department, 20 fire engines and other vehicles extinguished the blaze about two hours later. However, approximately 20 square meters of the unit on the fifth floor was burned.

According to police, a man and a woman, both in their 30s, were rescued from the unit and taken to a hospital. However, they were both later confirmed dead.

The woman had been stabbed in the neck. Meanwhile, the man had a stab wound to the abdomen, police said.

The front door was locked when firefighters arrived. Police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.

The apartment building is located in a residential area approximately 500 meters northwest of Yutenji Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line.
