Tokyo cops nab man after corpse found in trunk of van

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 26-year-old man following the discovery of the body of a male acquaintance in the trunk of a van in Musashimurayama City, reports Nippon News Network (Feb. 22).

Sometime between February 10 and 20, Kazuhide Owada allegedly left the corpse in the trunk of the van parked in a parking lot for an apartment building.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of abandoning a corpse, Owada declined to comment. “I don’t want to say anything,” he said.

On February 20, Owada called police and reported that he had gotten into an argument and killed his friend with a kitchen knife.

Police arriving at the scene found the body with a stab wound to the back in the vehicle. It was later identified as that of Kazuki Shiratori, a 26-year-old resident of Musashimurayama.

During voluntary questioning, Owada said that have stabbed that Owada had traveled to Tokyo with the victim. They then got into an argument about work.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
