TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police responded to a series of accidents in Chuo Ward during the early morning snow on Sunday.
The accidents involved a total of seven vehicles, including a Lamborghini whose driver fled afterward, and resulted in six people being hospitalized, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Feb. 8).
At around 4:25 a.m., a taxi struck a vehicle on the Tsukiji Ohashi Bridge. About 45 minutes later, the Lamborghini struck parked patrol car, injuring two officers who were responding to the first accident.
A male sergeant in his 50s suffered a broken neck, and a male police lieutenant in his 40s broke his hip.
The male driver of the Lamborghini fled the scene after the accident. He is currently under investigation for a hit-and-run violation of the Road Traffic Act. A foreign woman in her 20s who was also in the luxury car suffered a fractured pelvis.
Tokyo police believe the accidents were caused by snow. They are investigating the details of the incident while searching for the man.
In a subsequent accident, one vehicle crashed after skidding. As for the sixth and seventh vehicles, one rear-ended the other.
The accidents occurred near Kachidoki Station on the Toei Oedo Line.
