SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police have arrested a male teacher for committing indecent acts against a female student at the elementary school where he worked, reports the Yomiuri Shimbun (Jan. 9).
Between September 2022 and March 2023, Kodai Furukawa, 26, allegedly groped the female student at the elementary school.
Furukawa was the girl’s homeroom teacher at the time.
When questioned on suspicion of indecent assault, Furukawa partially denied the allegations. “I have groped girls at school in the past. I was tempted to do so,” he said. However, he added, “I don’t remember the details of this incident.”
The incident came to light in the middle of last month when the girl’s parents contacted the police and reported that their daughter had been subjected to indecent acts.
Police have received similar complaints from several other students. The matter is now being investigated.
