SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police have arrested a male elementary school teacher in Tokyo for allegedly molesting a high school girl on her way home in Satte City, reports the Asahi Shimbun (July 7).
On an evening in late June, Masato Kondo, who teaches at a public elementary school in Tokyo’s Taito Ward, is suspected of committing lewd acts on the teenage girl, including hugging, on the grounds of a home as commuted home.
Upon his arrest, Kondo denied some of the charges. “It’s true that I hugged her, but I didn’t do anything else,” he said. “She was my type.”
According to police, Kondo did not know the girl before the incident. After Kondo called out to her from behind, he is believed to have invited her onto the grounds of the house so as not to be seen by others. He then committed the crime.
The incident came to light when the girl and her mother filed a report with police. “A man hugged me on my way home,” the girl said.
