OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police believe that a body discovered buried at a property in Izumi City belongs to a former gang member, reports NHK (Apr. 20).

On Wednesday, police searched the property, located in the Kuzunohacho area, and found the body of an adult male lying face-down beneath a flower bed.

The body, likely belonging to a former gangster in his 50s, had a bag over the head. It is believed he died some time ago.

Police searched the property after receiving a tip from a man, aged in 20s, in custody for separate case. He told police that he buried the former gangster on the property.

Police are likely to apply corpse abandonment charges to the man who provided the tip. They are now working to confirm the identity of the body.

The property is located about 400 meters from JR Kita-Shinoda Station.
