TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested three persons believed to be organized crime members over a fight in Shinjuku Ward earlier this year that left one person with serious injuries, reports Nippon News Network (Dec. 6).

In May, Wataru Makita, 34, Kei Wakui, 32, one other gang member are alleged to have beaten three other persons, including the 46-year-old president of a construction company, on a street in the Kabukicho red-light district.

In the incident, the suspect was beaten in the head and dragged. He suffered a fractured skull that required one month to heal.

Makita and Wakui, who have been charged with assault, have declined to comment on the charges. The third suspect denies the allegations.

Prior to the incident, the president got into a quarrel over a price with a street tout, according to TBS News (Dec. 6). The fight then began after Makita became involved in the dispute.
