IBARAKI (TR) – Ibaraki Prefectural Police are investigating what is believed to be a murder-suicide case after the discovery of two bodies inside a home in the Sakai district, reports TBS News (Dec. 26).

At approximately 4:00 p.m., emergency personnel were summoned to the residence of Tatsuo Ueno, 62, and his wife, 64-year-old Hideko, after their bodies were found by a female acquaintance.

Hideko was lying face-up in a corridor. Her corpse exhibited no external wounds. Meanwhile, Tatsuo was found suspended from his neck with an electrical in a bedroom. A will believed to have been written by Tatsuo was found on a desk.

Police suspect that Tatsuo killed his wife before taking his own life. It is believed the couple had been dead for several days before the discovery of their bodies, according to the Asahi Shimbun (Dec. 26).

The acquaintance arrived at the residence after not being able to contact the couple. She was able to enter with a spare key.

Police have ordered autopsies to determine the causes of death.
