KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police on Friday morning arrested a male employee at Tokyo’s Meguro Ward office for molesting a woman inside a train car, reports TBS News (Aug. 14).

At approximately 12:40 a.m., Hideki Sunazuka, a 49-year-old employee in the ward’s disaster prevention division, is alleged to have fondled the chest and buttocks of the woman, 24, inside the Tokyu Toyoko Line.

Prior to the incident, the suspect had been out drinking with a colleague and was returning to his home in Yokohama.

Sunazuka, who has been charged with violating of a public nuisance ordinance, denies the allegations. “Since I was drunk, I might have touched (her body), but that was not my intention,” the suspect is quoted by police.

When Sunazuka exited the train at Hakuraku Station, another male passenger, 34, apprehended the suspect.

“If the information is correct, we express our deepest apologies to the victim and local citizens,” a representative of the ward is quoted, “and we will deal with this matter strictly.”
