KAGOSHIMA (TR) – Following the discovery of the body of a 32-year-old woman inside an apartment earlier this month, Kagoshima Prefectural Police on Monday morning arrested the victim’s boyfriend for murder, reports Nippon News Network (April 13).

Officers accused Kimio Koshiki, an organized crime member, in the stabbing of Yukari Kawano, who was found face-up on a futon in the first floor apartment of his older brother in Kanoya City on the morning of April 4.

The victim, who was attired in a nightgown, had been stabbed once in the chest. Police believe she was killed between between 2:40 a.m. and 9:25 a.m.

According to the results of an autopsy, Kawano, who was employed as a “snack” hostess, died due to shock from loss of blood.

After the discovery of Kawano’s body, Koshiki was involved in an automobile accident in Kanoya. Kagoshima police subsequently arrested him the following morning on charges of drunken driving.

With the assistance of security camera footage, police have confirmed that Koshiki was at the home on the day that her body was discovered. As well, the suspect hinted at involvement in the crime during interrogations.

Koshiki has denied the allegations.
