KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police on Sunday arrested a male civic employee for entering a women’s toilet at a shopping mall in Ebina City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (March 23).

At approximately 8:25 p.m., Yusuke Yanagishita, a 47-year-old employee in the prefecture’s public works permit division in Atsugi City, entered a third-floor restroom at the Vina Walk mall attired in a deep blue blouse and jacket, a yellow mini skirt and boots. He also had a pink shoulder bag.

Yanagishita, who has been charged with trespassing, has reportedly denied the allegations. “Because I was wearing women’s clothing I entered the women’s toilet,” the suspect is quoted by police.

As he was entering the bathroom, Yanagishita was spotted by a 31-year-old male who apprehended the suspect after he tried to flee the scene.
