OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have busted a pair of illegal casinos in the Minami entertainment area that are believed to have connections to organized crime, reports the Sankei Shimbun (May 24).

On Monday night, police entered Big Bom, located in the Higashi Shinsaibashi district of Chuo Ward, and Lady Go in Soemoncho on suspicion of the provision of illegal gambling via an Internet connection.

Police arrested five employees connected with the casinos, including Koji Takahashi, a 42-year-old manager. Six male and female customers inside the parlors at the times of the raids were also arrested on suspicion of illegal gambling.

During the searches, police seized 3.9 million yen in cash and 26 computer terminals.

Police suspect that the operations were used to fund criminal syndicates, according to TV Asahi (May 24).
