KANAGAWA (TR) – A member of the idol group Kamen Joshi (Masked Girls) was named a chief of police in Yokohama in an effort to eradicate molestation incidents and illicit filming on trains, the second time the group has been involved in such an initiative this year, reports Nippon News Network (Nov. 24).
On Thursday, Nanaka Kawamura, 20, initiated a patrol through JR Yokohama Station to warn women and children regarding chikan (molesters) and tosatsu (illicit filming) after being named as chief of the Tobe Police Station for the day.
“I think that the theme of protecting the safety of children and women is of utmost importance,” Kawamura is quoted by Sports Hochi (Nov. 24). “Women are victims of voyeurism and molestation. People should be careful about what’s going on around them regarding these crimes, which I want to disappear.”
In June, Anna Tachibana, a member of Kamen Joshi’s Alice No. 10 group, was named as “Molester Eradication Ambassador” at JR Sakuragicho Station, which is also located in Yokohama. Tachibana said she would support the initiative “until the day molestation is no more.”
