Corpses of hanged man, stabbed woman found in Yokohama hotel

KANAGAWA (TR) – A man was found hanged and a woman fatally stabbed inside in a hotel in in Yokohama City’s Konan Ward on Monday, police have revealed.

At around 11:00 a.m., an employee of the hotel, located in front of Keikyu Kamiooka Station, called police. “Two people, a man and a woman, have not come out [of their room] even though it’s time to check out. The door is locked from the inside and we can see a rope through the gap.”

According to Konan Police Station, the man was found with a rope around his neck near the door. The woman was sitting upright on the bed, leaning forward, bleeding from her upper body. Two bloodstained knives were found in the room, reports TV Asahi (Oct. 10).

Subsequent police investigations revealed that the woman was a Yokohama resident, aged in her late teens. The cause of death was hemorrhagic shock, police said.

The man, aged in his 40s and living in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, had deep stab wounds near his chest. The cause of death was cardiac tamponade. In this condition, pressure is created by blood or fluid collecting in the sac surrounding the heat, causing it to not function normally.

There were no signs of a struggle in the room, police said.

Police are currently investigating the relationship between the man and the woman and the circumstances that led to their deaths.

An employee at a nearby store who witnessed the scene outside the hotel after the discovery told the Asahi Shimbun (Oct. 10), “Two bodies wrapped in blue tarpaulins were carried away.”
