On March 13, officers from the cybercrime division of the Osaka Prefectural Police arrested Yusuke Inoue, 42, for the rape of multiple elementary- and middle school girls with ages between 11 and 15.

“I had relations with about 40 girls,” the native of Kita Kyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture reportedly said.

Investigators were able to identify 10 victims. On March 30, rape charges were formally filed. In one case in July of last year, Inoue is alleged to have had sex with a first-year middle school girl at an Osaka hotel and recorded the session.

The suspect, however, maintains that the victims granted him permission to touch their bodies. Indeed, Shukan Jitsuwa (May 2) says that Inoue did not lure the girls with cash but rather through a willingness to lend a sympathetic ear.

“He would engage in chats on his blog,” says a person related to the investigation. “He knew that there were girls out there with troubles. So he would write things like, ‘Do not worry about being alone when you can speak to an experienced elder.'”

Once mutual trust was established, the conversation would escalate to where Inoue would inquire about breast sizes and whether the girls were interested in having sex with him.

Inoue met with the girls all through Japan, and utilized a rental car to drive them to hotels. “Once finished,” says the same investigator, “he would carefully note the appearance of each victim, her bust and overall form, for example, and her reaction when he touched sensitive parts of her body, such as the genital area.”

A total of seven administrative districts, including Osaka, Tokyo, and Okinawa, are working on building the case against the suspect.

The recorded sessions would be posted up on his blog as a part of his diary. A search of Inoue’s home resulted in the seizure of 50 films featuring the suspect having sex with girls. Also confiscated were 6,000 images of naked girls.

Shukan Jitsuwa notes that if the victims were asked about the suspect, they would say, “He’s a nice old man.”
