NAGOYA (TR) – Law enforcement from three administrative districts, including Kyoto, on Tuesday announced the arrest of five suspects for the upload of child pornography to the Internet via a system that conceal’s a user’s activity, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Sep. 29).
Hiroyuki Fukuoka, a 47-year-old resident of Nagoya, and four other suspects are alleged to have used Tor (The Onion Router) to anonymously post nude images of children to the file-sharing site Majikaru Onion between December of 2013 and July of this year.
According to Kyoto police, three of the suspects thought that Tor would prevent their browsing history from being revealed.
Majikaru Onion is a membership site in which users upload images in exchange for points that can be used to download other images. The virtual currency bitcoin can also be used to purchase images.
