KYOTO (TR) – Kyoto Prefectural Police on Friday busted a pair of hostess clubs in the Kiyamachi area for licensing violations, reports Nippon News Network (Nov. 14).
At just past 10:00 p.m., 28 officers raided bars Divine and Relight employing hostesses to entertain customers, a service classified under the adult-entertainment law, while being licensed as a drinking establishment.
Police arrested Masayuki Fujiwara, the 32-year-old president of a management company affiliated with the clubs, and the 21-year-old female manager of Divine.
“I thought this was a safe business under the law,” the manager is quoted by police.
Officers also seized 78 items, including an account book and a personal computer.
Entrance fees at Divine begin at 3,500 yen for the first 60 minutes. For Relight, prices start at 4,000 yen for the same period.
