HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police arrested a man and his father after a dispute broke out inside the restaurant they both work at in Kushiro City last week.
At around 8:50 p.m. on November 8, the unnamed 60-year-old man allegedly struck his father, 80, with a frying pan inside the kitchen of the restaurant, causing minor injuries. Meanwhile, the father brandished a knife. “I’ll kill you,” he reportedly threatened, according to TV Asahi (Nov. 11).
Upon his arrest on suspicion of assault, the man said, “It’s true that I hit him with the frying pan.” The father as well admitted to violating the Act on the Punishment of Violence. “There’s no doubt that I pointed a knife at my son and threatened him,” the father said
As the incident unfolded, a relative called police. “He is brandishing a knife,” the relative said. Officers who rushed to the scene arrested the man and his father on the spot.
The man manages the restaurant while his father serves as the chef.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
