FUKUOKA (TR) – Exactly 25 years after a 34-year-old woman was fatally stabbed inside her Kitakyushu home, her grieving mother took to the streets to plead for information that could finally bring the killer to justice, reports Fuji News Network (July 1).

Harumi Sekioka was murdered in her residence on June 29, 2001. On the day of the killing, security camera footage captured a mysterious hooded figure using Sekioka’s cash card to withdraw approximately 500,000 yen from an ATM at a commercial facility about three kilometers from the crime scene.

Despite the video evidence, police have been unable to identify the suspect, and the brutal cold case remains unsolved.

Marking the grim anniversary on June 29, Sekioka’s mother, Hiroko Nagano, handed out flyers to passersby in a desperate bid for new leads.

“It feels like a long time, but the 25 years went by in a flash,” Nagano told reporters. “My only wish is for the culprit to be caught as soon as possible.”

Investigators are urging the public to come forward, stressing that no detail is too small. Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact the Wakamatsu Police Station at 093-771-0110.
