Video: Man in crypto costume enters monkey’s enclosure at Ichikawa Zoo

CHIBA (TR) – Police are investigating two men who claim to be U.S. citizens after one of them, dressed in a yellow full-body costume promoting cryptocurrency, trespassed into a monkey enclosure at a zoo in Ichikawa City on Sunday while the other filmed, reports TBS News (May 17).

At approximately 11:00 a.m., a man scaled the fence and invaded the “Monkey Mountain” exhibit at the Ichikawa City Botanical and Zoological Gardens.

According to reports, the man was seen wandering around the enclosure in the yellow suit before zoo staff intervened. Personnel apprehended the costumed trespasser along with a second man who was accompanying him and apparently filming the stunt.

Both individuals were subsequently handed over to police. The monkeys were unharmed.

The monkey enclosure was already drawing large crowds of visitors recently due to the popularity of a baby monkey named Punch-kun.

Both suspects told investigators they are American nationals. Police are currently investigating the pair on suspicion of forcible obstruction of business.
