HYOGO (TR) – Police here have arrested a 61-year-old self-proclaimed municipal worker for allegedly using a smartphone hidden in his shoe to film up a woman’s skirt on a moving train, reports the Mainichi Broadcasting System (July 5).
Shuji Takeda, who claims to be an employee of the Toyonaka City Water and Sewerage Bureau, is accused of violating the Law Banning the Taking of Sexually Explicit Photographs.
At around 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, Takeda allegedly slipped his smartphone under the skirt of a female passenger to take tosatsu (voyeur) footage. The incident occurred aboard a local train traveling on the Hankyu Imazu Line between Kotoen and Nishinomiya-kitaguchi stations.
According to police, Takeda executed the illicit filming by wedging the smartphone between the instep of his left foot and his sneaker. His activities were exposed when a vigilant male passenger noticed his suspicious movements on the train.
During police questioning, Takeda fully admitted to the allegations. “There is no mistake about what I did,” he told investigators, reportedly adding that the act was driven by a need “to satisfy my sexual desires.”
A subsequent search of Takeda’s confiscated smartphone revealed additional videos appearing to show the undergarments of other women, prompting police to investigate his involvement in further voyeurism offenses.
