TOKYO (TR) – “The call is coming from inside the house.”
Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 51-year-old man for allegedly breaking into the residence of a part-time female colleague earlier this month reports, Fuji News Network (July 23).
Takakazu Shirai is suspected of breaking into the home of a female university student and stealing two print stickers worth about 750 yen in April.
When questioned by police, Shirai admitted to the charges. He told the Hino Police Station, “I had feelings for her. I was breathing in the fresh air in the room and taking pictures of her underwear, which helped me relieve stress from work. I actually wanted to steal her underwear, but I thought that using printed stickers would not get me caught.”
To gain access, Shirai duplicated her keys. He first took pictures of the her keys with his smartphone at work. He then ordered a duplicate key based on the number written on the key.
Since April, the suspect has broken into her residence at least 13 times. As well, a dozen images of women’s underwear were found on Shirai’s smartphone, police said.
“I want you to take my shift”
The incident was discovered on June 17, when Shirai happened to run into a friend of the woman who was visiting her residence. Upon meeting the friend, Shirai fled the scene.
Later, the woman, who had heard about the break-in from her friend, had no idea that the culprit was Shirai when she called him. “A strange old man has come to my house to rob me,” she said. “I want you to take my shift.”
When she returned home and checked the security camera footage, she allegedly realized it was Shirai who had broken into her apartment.
