TOKYO (TR) – Police have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of trespassing and sexually assaulting a female bar employee after waiting for her to pass out from drinking, reports TBS News (May 13).
Sora Kato, a resident of Setagaya Ward, is accused of breaking into a bar in the same ward at around 10:00 a.m. on March 12 and sexually assaulting the victim, who is in her 20s.
Upon his arrest for non-consensual sexual intercourse and trespassing, Kato, who manages another bar himself, denied the allegations. He told investigators, “I don’t remember anything at all.”

According to police, Kato visited the bar as a customer a few hours prior to the incident. He drank alongside the female employee until she was heavily intoxicated and lost consciousness, after which he left the establishment.
Police allege that Kato calculated his return, waiting until the bar had closed and the unconscious woman was left completely alone inside. He then went back to the establishment, retrieved the front door key from a combination-style keybox outside, and let himself in to commit the assault.
Kato emerged as a suspect after investigators analyzed security camera footage from the surrounding area.
