KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police have arrested a 35-year-old man from Tokyo for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a middle school girl he met online, reports Nippon News Network (May 14).
Last December, Shunsuke Sakane is suspected of kidnapping the girl, who was a middle school student living in Yokohama City, and sexually assaulting her in his car and at his home in the capital.
Sakane denies the charges. He said, “It wasn’t for lewd purposes, but to have fun together.”
Prior to the incident, Sakane messaged the girl, whom he had never met before, on Instagram, inviting her to go to the movies.
The incident came to light when the girl’s mother called police to report that her daughter hadn’t returned home. When the girl did return, she reported the abuse.
