With the seemingly never-ending recession, times are getting harder for girls in the sex trade. More ladies entering the business has led to excessive competition for shrinking revenues.
Nikkan Gendai (June 12) reports that some female staff at deri heru (out-call sex) services attempt to boost their incomes by registering at more than one shop.
“While on duty they’ll sit around in an apartment waiting to be summoned; but if they wait a long time and don’t get any action, some will tap out an email to another shop, asking, ‘Please find me something to do,'” says a unnamed writer covering the “pink” trade. “If a job’s available at the other shop, they’ll tell their employer, ‘There’s nothing for me today, so I’m going home,’ which they’re allowed to do these days.”
Then after dashing out and servicing the second outfit’s client at a love hotel, some women are also reportedly in the habit of engaging in “part-time” work, which they do by propositioning males on the street by accosting them and saying, “Wanna do it with me? Thirty minutes for 10,000 yen.” If the John doesn’t like the offered price, she might come down, saying, “All right then, for you, 8,000 yen.” And some women reportedly discount to as low as 3,000 or 4,000 yen.
This “part-time” work has become much easier to get away with, since most deri heru clubs have ceased driving the women to and from their assignations as cost-cutting moves.
To ensure steady income, girls work hard at keeping their regular patrons coming back for more. One way to do this — although in violation of the ordinance on deri-heru businesses — is to go all the way with the customer instead of just relieving him manually or orally. Another way is to present their favorite Johns with personal gifts that keep on giving, like a DVD that shows the woman masturbating, filmed at an angle that conceals her face, but leaves nothing else to the imagination.
“When I get in the hotel room, I’ll also give them the panties I’m wearing,” says Aki, a 24-year-old working girl in Tokyo.
When all else fails to keep a regular client interested, more girls are willing to turn the other cheek, by offering anal sex.
“Fortunately, I don’t find it so painful,” Aki says. “Actually as I get more accustomed to being sodomized, it kind of feels good. But I’ll clinch up my face and feign a pained expression. Some customers feel happier, thinking they’re the first to deflower an ‘anal virgin.'” (K.S.)
