Suspected groper leaps flees platform at JR Osaki Station, lines suspended

TOKYO (TR) – A man jumped off a platform and onto the tracks at JR Osaki Station in Shinagawa Ward after being reprimanded for alleged groping on Thursday, police said, reports the Yomiuri Shimbun (Nov. 6).

At around 9:10 a.m., the man was on an inbound Rinkai Line train when he groped a woman as she commuted to work. According to a senior police officer, he was then reprimanded but fled onto the tracks immediately after being removed from the train at the station.

The man stands approximately 160 centimeters tall. At the time, he was wearing black clothing from head to toe, police said.

The Osaki Police Station is currently investigating the case on suspicion of violations of the Tokyo Metropolitan Nuisance Prevention Ordinance.

As a result, some train services on the Shonan-Shinjuku, Saikyo Line and Yamanote lines were suspended or delayed.
