SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police launched an investigation following the discovery of skeletal remains on a property in Kawaguchi City on April 26.

At around 3:20 p.m., a man visiting the residence found the skeletal body lying face-up in a room on the first floor of the vacant two-story house in Minami-Hatogaya 5-chome.

According to the Bunan Police Station, the vacant house was owned by the man’s older sister, aged in her 70s. It had been vacant for the past seven years.

The man made the discovery when he visited to collect his mail.

The body was clothed. However, due to the state of decay, the gender and approximate age of the person are unknown.

There were no signs of external injuries. Cash and other valuables were found inside, but no personal belongings that could identify the deceased have been found.

Police are treating the case as both the result of foul crime or an accident.
